Email: ucbcjle@ucl.ac.uk PhD Degree: Sychrotron Radiation Circular Dichroism of proteins. Bio: I am currently maintaining several databases and websites including Gene3D. In my current project I am analysing the developmental transcriptome / proteome of D. melanogaster. Alternative splicing is prevalent in higher eukaryotes but there is still much debate about how much is functional and what the precise roles of splicing could be. We investigate the potential contribution of splicing to the functional landscape. I also have worked on function prediction, for which we have a method in development (http://www.funl.org). I maintain a website known as Gene3D (http://gene3d.biochem.ucl.ac.uk/) that annotates millions of proteins with protein domain annotations. I have an interest in protein domain architecture evolution and protein networks.
